Today is a happy day ~ I found out I won the Let your Light Shine Challenge I entered in January. You can see my original post Titled "The Few, The Proud"  by clicking on the title. It won the layout challenge for the month of January. I submitted the layout in honour of our Marine son who is deploying this week and used it as part of decor for a Surprise Going Away party his friends threw for him this past weekend. I cannot wait to tell him I won the challenge!

Inspired by Giovana ~

stamps: Morning Glory

Inks: Memento, Copics, SU
accessories: Spellbinder die, Cheery Lynn Die, Pearls, Ribbon, Lace, Sewing
It's Saturday!!! I love weekends where I get to do what I want...most weekends, I am either teaching a class or taking a class (my husband and I are involved in prayer ministry) This particular weekend, we are more flexible and ending our corporate 21 day fast....can we say, have our cake and eat it too?? lol

Over at Splitcoaststampers SNSS members forum, You will find some amazing challenges to whet your appetite(speaking of food) for more creativity! This one I am featuring is Giovana's challenge SNSSFEB12RP03 from the release party on Thursday night.

I stamped my morning Glory onto copic friendly cs and coloured using copics, after die cutting, I sponge swiped the edges using my dauber from the outside in to create a soft frame. I stitched the outside edge of my dp onto the base and layered my other pieces onto the card. I love this set!

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend!

Cathy's Egg-Citing Recipe challenge ~

stamps: Egg-cited Cocoa
papers: MME Vanity Fair, SU
Inks: memento, copics, distress inks, Su
accessories: ribbon, mspunch, snss dies, spellbinder die, su punch

I love a great creative challenge...especially when it ends up in the trash bin a couple times before you succeed. I had an idea in mind and it was just out of reach a few times! lol...

This was a challenge to the Release party attendees on Splitcoaststampers last night. The amazing diva Cathy challenged us to a 1,2,3,4,5 recipe challenge SNSSFEB12RP02. I stamped Cocoa for my one image and used a sentiment and pulled two coordinating dsp(not too hard with MME paper stacks), used three die cuts on my card (SNSS lacey eyelet border, heart scallop - used the mini hearts on my sentiment, spellbinder fancy tag) four colours are shown on my image, finally I used five embellishments(ribbon & pearls) on my finished card.

It was fun once I got my act together...believe me it was a juggling act with the waste can at first. haha...

Visit the company member forum and join in the fun! You might win some stamps :-)

SNSS February Release HOP ~

Welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps February New Release Blog Hop!  This month's release is so exciting  - it was even released a week early as a surprise! Get your warm beverage and tasty snack, and get ready for some amazing inspiration from the Design Divas!
If you came here from Kim Schofield's blog you are right where you need to be...if not, scroll down to view the full list, diva creativity begins at SNSS blog.

Stamps: YOU
Papers: SU, SU dsp, coffee filters
Inks: versafine, Tim Holtz distress inks
accessories: MS punch, SNSS die, pearls, ribbon
I love this new YOU set designed by DKdesign exclusive to Sweet n Sassy! The sentiments are perfect for scrapbook pages, gift tags, elegant cards etc. the possibilities are endless. I chose to make an 8x8 layout for a shadowbox.

My colour scheme was inspired by the dsp I chose and it very closely matched the FEB release badge! oooh. I love it. I simply built my page onto the brown base by trimming out a square and then layered the dsp after punching a border around it. I made coordinating rectangles to place behind my photo. I stamped the sentiment onto matching cardstock and layered it onto a stamped floral border. To finish the detail, I added the heart scallop die border below the sentiment. The flowers are super fun and easy to create and embellished the centres with pearls.

Finally, I made a tag to match the shadowbox gift. Did I say I {love} this set? The banner tag has the SU antique brad to embellish the word YOUNow head on over to Monika Davis' blog and see what eye candy she created!
Now take a look at what the other Design Divas have created with this release...

Somebuggy Loves You ~ SNSSIC24, SC369

Stamps: Somebuggy loves you
Papers: Basic Grey, EP, SU
Inks: Memento, copics, Distress inks
accessories: SNSS die, Spellbinder die, SU Punch, Pearls
Happy Friday!! Another card featuring SNS Somebuggy loves you! Each week in the member forum, there's an inspiration challenge...this week it is using this photo
My dark blue does not show up so well on my card, but I assure you it is blue all the way! My base is Basic Gray CS and pulled dsp from Basic Grey & Echo Park to complete my colour combo!  These little ladies are so cute...I wanted to make a motion card, so I stamped and coloured each one a shade lighter. Love the touch of red in the photo so I opted red would be minimal...coloured my pearls with R89! I feel so accomplished! I distressed the edges of the dsp and began to layer my colours onto the base. Fun sketch to work with!
If you look closely, you can see the new heart scallop die offered in a bundle with its partner the star scallop die along with teh coordinating dies hearts/stars. They are so fun to use!

Head on over to the members forum on Splitcoast and join us each week!

Coffee & Donuts BFF ~ SCS368

stamps: you&me
papers: MME Hattie, SU
Inks: Memento, Copics, SU
accessories: twine, crystal lacquer, su punches, cb folder
I {heart} sketches when I am lacking in my creative layout and design. This sketch is from Splitcoaststampers, SCS368 came in very handy with this cute image...coffee and donuts...mmm..don'tcha just taste it? You & Me is one of the latest releases from Sweet'n Sassy stamps. There are more images that come with that set and they are adorable!

I coloured these little cuties with my copics and lacquered the donut with crystal effects to give it that sticky glaze...oh yum! I wrapped some of my twine for some embellishment and to tie things up a little. The background is embossed with d'vine swirls that reminded me of the steam in the coffee mug.

Thank you so much for swinging by! Enjoy your day :-)
